fallout_in_rads @ 01:21 pm: Help with D.64 file types
Does ANYONE out there have, know of, or even heard a rumor about a D.64 to Z5-8 or .DAT file interpreter?
Or more specifically, how to use the d64toinf program?

I can't seem to make sense of the instructions it came with and I don't understand what I'm supposed to type when it calls for the output file.
In my other programs, this usually refers the name assigned to the game but with this program, it seems to need something else.

Sorry kids, I missed that whole DOS computer era - I went straight from running a c=128 to a P3, seriously.
This is the only related program that I can't figure and wouldn't you know it, it's the only program I know of that converts D.64's and all of my *favorite* games are in this code!!!

Incidentally, I already know these games can be run by VICE, etc, that isn't the problem. I need them in the Z-code so that I can that I can convert them yet again to .pdb. - I wanna play these games on my Palm.

So, if you know another way to go straight from D.64 to .pdb that would rawk too!
If you'd rather e-mail me, you can find my contact info on my profile page.

Whoever tells me will be the recipient of my Eternal gratitude :)

Offhand, I would recommend ending the output filename with .z3, .z4, or .z5; e.g. "d64toinf adventx.dat adventx.z5". I presume you're using the command prompt via the cmd.exe program. If the resulting Z-code file passes winfrotz (which should indicate which dialect of Z-code is in use), I'd then convert the Z-code file to .inf. Does this help any?

Yes, the program is run from DOS prompt but i'm really dumb when it comes to understanding EXACTLY how and what to type in DOS.
I really can't think of a better way to explain my comprehension problems.
Like I said before, DOS is totally alien to me.
I hate to keep pestering but if you could just explain that again using "example game name" or something like that so I know EXACTLY what to type . . .
Also, is that actually written with the quotes, seriously;
and is that written in one single line (no hitting enter - then typing something else)?
Lol, this is sooo embarrassing!!

Ah. Type what is between the quotes, then press Enter. A couple of examples:
"d64toinf adventx.dat adventx.z5"
"d64toinf example.dat newname.z5"

Hopefully this should work.

Thanks for retard sitting!
Special Ed here is going to try what you said.

I think I actually understood it and that'd be the first time I've ever understood the instructions for this program from anyone!

I know I've never tried to input the file like that so hopefully that'll do the trick but I won't have time to try til the weekend.

Thanks again, if there's anything you need, just give me a holler!
